Propaganda machines
So the US is really fucked as far as information delivery goes. Check out these two images comparing US news and UK news. BBC News New York Times
You'll notice that some areas are highlighted. These areas are international topics. Topics that occur in a country other than the country of origin for the source.
I'd like you to notice that the only topic on the New York Times page is regarding President Bush hailing the Iraqi Elections!
Now if you look at the BBC you'll notice almost all the topics are concerning international issues. Now in all honesty this is the international version of the BBC News. The UK version has the headline regarding Tookie Williams's denial for clemency.
Is it any worry to you that the only bit of internation news that made it to the front page of the New York Times is regarding Pres. Bush's excitement over the elections in Iraq? What about the raid on the Prison in Iraq that found almost a hundred prisoners in need of attention? What about anything else, like the riots in Sydney where White Young Males are beating any Arabic or Mediterrenean people they come across for the past two days?
Nothing. Question what news you hear. The more I get involved in production and the like the more I realise how corrupt everything is. It all comes down to money.
Those magazines that you read praising the latest vacatin hotspots. Or telling you to go to the greatest skiing mountain might have a deal with the resorts that run those areas. They pat each other on the back: "You praise my Mt. I'll praise your magazine."
So what you are really reading about is the work of two fat white men in business suits giving each other a reach around. If I sound angry it's because I am. How can we condemn all these societies for not being free (thinking communism) yet our capalistic system does nothing more than line the pockets of those with money. In our society it isn't about being honest truthful free it's about making business deals that make people the most money. I think health insurance is the best example of this.
Health Insurance by definition provides people with the financial means to receive health treatment. Now this sounds like a great thing. Let's help people achieve healthy lives, live longer, be happier, etc. etc. But there is one problem, health care is dependent on a business. A business's goal is to make money. So the two goals for a health provider become a) Provide Health Care b) Make money.
Does anyone else see a conflict of interests here? To me this reads such that while providing health care this company makes money. Now the last time I checked health care cost money. I've never been to the doctor and made money off of the deal. No one has, ever. These companies exist solely for the purpose of making money on our health. They take a gamble. They say the likelihood of you using the amount of money that you'll pay us is low, so we'll insure you. Then they apply all these ruls. You can only accrue so much health coverage costs in a year that we'll pay for, you get a life maximum amount they'll pay for, you don't get pregnancy and childbirth covered, yet you still pay every month. And you pay more than they will ever put out.
In my mind health insurance companies should exist to make sure that their clients get the best coverage they can give to them. In any other business if you paid for a service and it was not satisfactory then this business would most likely go out of business. Health Insurance does just the opposite. It's those business's that provide the worst service (least amount of money paid out for clients) that succeed.
Conflict of interests.
