At least appear like you care about the situation Bush.

I've noticed the Republicans are up in arms because of the attacks against President Bush about the presence of a lack of reaction on the federal governments part. Now I am a Democrat, and I can see both sides, but I also see a trend with our current leadership.

I remember the day after Katrina I was shocked. I don't have televisions and I had heard mumblings about a hurricane coming ashore, but I knew nothing about it. The day after Katrina hit I started searching online to find out what was going on. I came across an article in what I believe was the New York Times.

In this article there was a quote from George Bush. He was on vacation at his Texas Ranch. He plaedged to end his trip two days early, which was still five days away from ending. Now no matter what way you look at this scenario there is one underlying message. My vacation is currently the most important factor, or whatever it is that I'm doing on my vacation takes precedence.

If you parents go on vacation and you throw a party, and somehow you flood the house your parents have items stolen, so the police call them on vacation and tell them what has happened. If their reaction is, "Ok we are going to end our vacation two days early." Which means they will still be away for another four days. How would you see that? Would you feel different than if they jumped on the next flight home? Would a sense of urgency on their part in anyway effect your state of mind?

I'm willing to bet yes. If Bush had ended his vacation immediately, and attended to the situation as it unfolded I think their WOULD NOT BE the need to throw accusations at the President. Bush or his entourage should have at least made the appearance that the situation was in need of immediate attention. A relax attitude does nothing to console people who are in a state of devastation.

If you disagree then you might have never experienced a state of devastation. And I'm happy that you don't know how horrible it feels. But it also limits your spectrum of knowledge. It's not a coincedence that most republicans are privileged white people, now I said most, not all.
